I got a call from a woman wanting to hire me for her mother. She told me her mother had never learned to type and may be dyslexic. She needed to learn how to email from her iPad.
We saw each other for several weeks and I noticed her frustration as she hunted and pecked on the keyboard. How could I relieve her anxiety? I added an emoji keyboard. She loved it! She thought it was the best thing ever. She giggled as she typed a subject line to her friend all in hearts. Wouldn’t you like to receive that kind of love?
Once she masters the emojis and feels more comfortable with the iPad, we can move on to learning how to type with the traditional keyboard or use voice dictation -- the sky’s the limit. In the meantime, she’s adding happy faces to her emoji repertoire.
