I was helping a woman with her iPhone, explaining how to swish away open apps. I said, “Double click on your home button and you’ll see all the apps that are open.” She tried and tried but was having a hard time. Her thumb just couldn’t could press fast enough.
She said, somewhat to herself, “It has to be a quick click.”
I said, “It has to be a quick click click,” making sure she knew it was a double click.
She was getting frustrated. I thought to myself, “Nancy, turn this around. Say something to snap her out of this.”
I said, “Try saying that five times fast.”
She looked at me like I was crazy. Then she said, “Quick click click. Quick click click. Quick click click. Quick click click. Quick click click.”
I was happily surprised. We both laughed, took a deep breath, and started over. By the end of the lesson, she was a pro.
